Înainte de spectacolul de pe 20 octombrie, pe care mulți îl așteaptă cu sufletul la gură, am stat puțin de vorbă, via email, cu Eivør. Ne-a spus o mulțime de lucruri interesante. Citiți-le în timp ce ascultați piesele sale și garantăm că toate cuvintele vor căpăta noi sensuri.
Infomusic: Peste puțin timp vei susține un nou concert în România. Cum te-ai simțit ultima oară când ai fost aici? La ce te aștepti acum?
Eivør: Abia aștept să revin în România, pentru că data trecută a fost o experiență extraordinară. Am fost primită cu multă căldură.
InfoMusic: Într-un interviu ai spus că te inspiră foarte mult viața în sine, situațiile de viață în care te găsești. Ce anume te-a inspirat să scrii piesa „Falling Free”?
Eivør: Acel cântec a fost inspirat de dragoste. Mesajul său este despre acest sentiment, despre a te lăsa purtat de dragoste, despre a ceda iubirii, despre a recunoaște iubirea din afară și din tine. „Să cazi liber, să te îndrăgostești” fără să știi dacă atunci când atingi pământul reziști sau te sfărâmi.
InfoMusic: Dacă n-ai fi fost muzician, ai spus, cândva, că ai fi vrut să fii pictor sau bucătar. Ca chef, trebuie să amesteci ingredientele cele mai bune pentru a obține o mâncare delicioasă. Ce condimente pui pentru a crea un cântec?
Eivør: Haha, îmi place întrebarea! Să gătești o mâncare delicioasă presupune să balansezi dulcele cu săratul, texturile ușoare cu cele grele. Cred că totul stă în contrast. Atunci când compun o piesă, mereu am în minte contrastele. Dacă muzica este mai caldă, ușoară, atunci o echilibrez cu versuri mai adânci, mai dark, iar în cazul invers, când am muzica heavy, dark, cuvintele o pun pe o traiectorie de mijloc, astfel încât tabloul final să fie ceva plăcut. Pentru mine, o piesă bine construită este aceea care poate fi interpretată în multe moduri și totuși să-și păstreze intact mesajul. În momentul în care un cântec face pe cineva de la capătul celălalt al lumii să-și regăsească povestea de viață în ceea ce cânți tu... atunci știi că ai realizat ceva. Eu mereu asta am simțit în legătură cu muzica adevărată... acele cântece te fac să te simți mai puțin singur pe lume.
InfoMusic: Ca pictor, dacă ți-ai putea desena muzica, ce culori ar avea?
Eivør: Cu siguranță ar fi albastră, ca oceanul... Ar mai avea și mult negru și alb.
InfoMusic: Ca actriță, în ce film ți-ar fi plăcut să joci?
Eivør: Oh, Doamne... Când eram mică, mereu mi-am dorit să fiu SUPERMAN! Haha. Dar nu mi-ar displăcea să fiu prințesa Lea din Star Wars, de asemenea.
InfoMusic: Natura te inspiră foarte mult în piesele pe care le compui, îți dă acea putere și forță care reies din toate albumele tale. Cum îți „vorbește” natura?
Eivør: Natura mă readuce la esența a ceea ce sunt și mă face să mă simt mică, dar parte dintr-un tablou imens. Reușeste, cumva, să mă inspire și să-mi reseteze mintea, de fiecare dată, dându-mi ceea ce am nevoie.
InfoMusic: Combini multe genuri muzicale, instrumente și ești mereu curioasă în ceea ce privește mixul de sunete și ritmuri. Cum îți dai seama că ai obținut sound-ul perfect pentru ce vrei să exprimi într-o piesă?
Eivør: Să găsești și să creezi sunetul cel mai bun pentru fiecare proiect este, într-adevăr, o experiență uimitoare, o călătorie în sufletul tău. Eu mereu am în minte ideea despre ce vreau să obțin și uneori văd notele în culori sau observ elemente din natură care reflectă exact sound-ul unei piese. Și apoi încerc să pun pe note ceea ce simt. Cred că a lucra cu sunetele, cu notele este una dintre cele mai interesante experiențe când vine vorba despre a crea muzică. Este vorba despre vocea ta interioară care iese la suprafață.
InfoMusic: Recunosc că am ascultat piesa „Nú Brennur Tú Í Mær” de foarte multe ori și, chiar dacă la început nu înțelegeam versurile, am putut, de fiecare dată, să simt pasiunea cuvintelor. Care este povestea din spatele acestei piese?
Eivør: Uhhh, am scris piesa asta când aveam 16 ani. Eram foarte îndrăgostită și băiatul acela mi-a frânt inima. Deci este primul meu cântec de dragoste pierdută.
InfoMusic: Există vreun loc special unde ți-ar plăcea să ai un concert?
Eivør: În momentul de față nu-mi vine nimic în minte, mai ales că am cam 150 de concerte pe an. Dar lumea este plină de locuri speciale și interesante și atunci când am ocazia, le asimilez cu toată ființa mea.
InfoMusic: Zona aceasta de lume din care provii are o magie aparte atunci când vine vorba de muzică. Totul acolo este special. Care este secretul, aerul proaspăt, natura impresionantă?
Eivør: Cred că sunt multe aspecte în Insulele Feroe care stimulează creativitatea la un artist. În ceea ce mă privește, inspirația vine tocmai din contrastele și din puterea naturii. Iernile sunt mai întunecate, mai reci, în timp ce verile sunt mai călduroase, mai luminoase. Vremea este mereu imprevizibilă și asta are un efect asupra locuitorilor de acolo. De asemenea, cred că și faptul că este o insulă mică în mijlocul Oceanului Atlantic are un cuvânt de spus atunci când vine vorba despre creativitate. Există acolo o comunitate foarte închegată de artiști care se susțin și se ajută.
InfoMusic: Atunci când cânți ești plină de pasiune. Ce simți când ești live, pe scenă?
Eivør: Momentele “live” sunt preferatele mele, mai ales pentru că ele înseamnă comunicarea dintre mine și cei din sală. Când cânt, mă simt liberă, mă las dusă de valul muzicii, mă simt una cu universul. Poate că sună puțin siropos sau dramatic, hahaha, dar acesta este purul adevăr.
InfoMusic: Care este următorul tău pas în muzică? Ce povești ai găsit pentru urmatoarele piese?
Eivør: În ultimii doi ani am scris foarte multe piese, așa că acum sunt în faza în care sunt atentă la alte aspecte, încerc să sap mai adânc și să aleg piesele potrivite pentru următorul album. Abia aștept să le împărtășesc lumii, anul viitor.

Read our interview with Eivør (EN): „When I sing I let go of myself and I feel free, I feel one with the universe”
Who’s one of the greatest voice from Feroe Islands, who can deal with rock, jazz, pop, folk and European classical music and is compared with Björk? With her distinctive voice, yes, we are talking about Eivør, the singer and the composer that will come, again, for a concert in Control Club, on the 20th of October. Before her performance, she talked to us, via email, and told us a lot of interesting stuff. Read them while you are listening to her songs. We guarantee that words will have a different meaning.
Infomusic: Soon, you'll have a new concert in Romania. How did you feel last time you were here? What do you expect to find this time?
Eivør: I can’t wait to be back in Romania. The last time I was there was such a warm and beautiful experience
InfoMusic: For an interview you said that you get inspired by life, by different situations you find yourself in. What inspired you to write the song “Falling free”?
Eivør: That song is inspired by love. It´s about giving into love completely. To recognize the love outside and within. Falling free without knowing whether you´ll break or not.
InfoMusic: If you weren’t a musician, you said you’d have been a painter or a chef. As a chef, you mix elements to get a good dish. What ingredients do you combine to get a great song?
Eivør: Haha love this question! Cooking a good meal, you need to work on the balance between the sweet and the sour, the light and the heavy. It´s all about contrasts, I guess. When I write a song I always try to make sure there are contrasts – light and darkness. If I have a bright sounding melody I will try to balance it with some darker words or if I have a dark and heavy melody I will often write words that are more uplifting. For me, a good and well-crafted song is a song that can be interpreted in many ways and still be very clear in its message. A song that can make someone on the other side of the planet feel like it´s telling their story. I´ve always felt like this about great songs – they make us feel less alone in the world.
InfoMusic: As a painter, if you were able to paint your music, what color would it have?
Eivør: It would be deep blue like the ocean.. It would also have lots of black and white colours in there..
InfoMusic: As an actor, what kind of movie would you have preferred to play in?
Eivør: Oh my.. When I was a little girl I always wanted to be SUPERMAN ! Haha. I wouldn’t mind being princess Lea in Star Wars either.
InfoMusic: Nature inspires you a lot in your songs, it gives you that power and strength that can be seen in all your albums. How does nature „talk to you”?
Eivør: Nature takes me back to the core of what I am and it makes me feel small and part of a bigger picture. It always inspires me and resets my mind.
InfoMusic: You mix genres of music, you combine instruments and you are curious about a lot of sounds. How do you know you got the perfect sound for what you felt about something?
Eivør: Finding and forming the right sounds for each project is always an experimental journey. I always have an idea in my head of what I want things to sound like. I often see it in colors or I see elements in nature that reflect the sound of a song and then I try to reflect that through the sounds I make. I think working with sound is one of the most exiting things about making music. It´s the voice of the way you express yourself.
InfoMusic: I have listened to the song “Nú Brennur Tú Í Mær” for many times and even if I couldn’t understand the words, before having them translated, I could feel that passion of the words. What’s the story behind this song?
Eivør: Uhhh I wrote this song when I was 16. It´s my first break up song. I was so in love with this boy who completely broke my heart.
InfoMusic: Is there a special place in this world where you would like to have a concert?
Eivør: I can´t think of one place right now as I do almost 150 concerts a year. But the world is full of special and magical places and I embrace them when I see them.
InfoMusic: That part of the world you come from has a magic spark regarding music. Everything about music is special there. What’s the secret: the fresh air, the great nature?
Eivør: I think that there are many elements in the Faroe Islands that stimulate the creativity in artists. For my part, it´s the endless contrasts and the power of the nature. Winters are the darkest and the summers are the brightest. The weather is always unpredictable and it affects people´s mindset. I also think that the fact that it´s such a small place in the middle of the Atlantic ocean plays a role in the creativity. There is a very strong community among the artists and they stick together and support each other.
InfoMusic: You are full of passion when you sing. What do you feel when you are live, on a stage?
Eivør: The “live” moment is my favorite thing in the world. I have a hard time saying what it is, but it has something to do with communication between me and the people in the room. When I sing I let go of myself and I feel free. I feel one with the universe. Maybe this sounds a bit cheesy or dramatic haha but it´s true.
InfoMusic: What’s your next step in music? What stories have you found for new songs?
Eivør: I have written so many songs the past 2 years and now I am at the stage where I am zooming in and digging deeper and choosing the right songs for my next album. I am very exited to be sharing them with the world next year.
